Exorcist Diary #47: Via Crucis 8: "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you."
On this Holy Thursday on which we celebrate the institution of the Holy Eucharist, we find ourselves, lamentably, cut off from receiving the Body and Blood of Jesus. This will undoubtably be recorded as a most striking spiritual anomaly in the history of the Church.
On a personal level, many are feeling this loss acutely. They are having a hard time conceiving Easter without physically attending a Mass. Although video-streaming is available, many feel this deep spiritual hunger inside which only Our Lord's Eucharistic food can satisfy. It is likely intensifying as the quarantine continues on seemingly endlessly.
But there is One who feels this hunger most of all. More than any of us, Jesus himself longs to share his very self with us: "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you" (Lk 22:15). There is a burning desire in the heart of God that we might unite with him in this holy sacrifice and drink in his divine life.
God's will can never thwarted. Let each of us this day, and every day, open our hearts to the One who is ever present to us. There is no doubt that God will, in his mysterious and powerful way, fill us with his life. God will nourish us, in ways surpassing human reckoning, with the Body and Blood of Jesus even in the midst of this Eucharistic fast.
