Exorcist Diary #82: "I have no legs"

Demons are cowards. Despite all the bluster and arrogance, they are cowards. They hide and part of our ministry is to flush them out. Then, we invoke the Holy Name of Jesus to cast them out.

In one session, I commanded them,

"In the name of Jesus, stop hiding. Stand up and face the light."

The response, "I cannot."

"Why not?" I demanded.

The demon responded, "I have no legs."

I said, "You know what I mean."

It is true that demons have no legs. As spiritual beings, they have no bodies. But the possessed, and others, will sometimes see them as dark, shadow men. They seem to be floating. They are often hooded and their grotesque faces are not seen. They, indeed, have no legs.

Demons tend to be literalists. But when it said, "I have no legs," I think I was actually getting a little demonic sarcasm. The fact remains that they are cowards and hide in the dark.

Jesus is the light of the World. All the darkness and evil is cast out when the light of Christ shines. I often lay my hands on the afflicted and pray that the light of Christ will shine throughout every cell of their being and cast out the darkness.
