Q: Where can I find The Litany of God’s Children prayed during the recent SMC Holy Hour, and am I allowed to pray this by myself? Or does a priest need to pray it over me?

A: We are grateful to hear of the multitude of blessings experienced from the Litany of God’s Children during our recent Holy Hour held on All Hallow’s Eve. The prayer in its entirety can be found on our Website and App and does not require a priest to be present when prayed by laity.

This prayer was inspired to combat the lies and accusations so many of the faithful are confronted with when experiencing demonic harassment. It is a litany of truth and promise given to us through sacred scripture. I wrote it a year ago, and by God’s grace, it has since proven a powerful weapon against the deceptions of the evil one. In renouncing the lies that seek to enslave us and boldly proclaiming the truth of the Gospel, we draw near to God and resist the devil, and he will flee from us! James 4:7

One of the most powerful prayers used in deliverance ministry is the Prologue of the Gospel of John, where we read, “But to those who did accept him he gave power to become children of God, to those who believe in his name, who were born not by natural generation nor by human choice nor by a man’s decision but of God” Jn 1:12–13. When the evil one is confronted with this reality, the reactions are fierce. Through the grace of Baptism, God claims us and seals us with the indelible mark of belonging to Jesus. Satan is reminded that this sacred identity cannot be taken from us, for no power in heaven, on earth, or below the earth can undo what God has done. At the very core of who we are is this beautiful truth: we belong to God, who knows us, loves us, and calls us His own!
