  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS | St. Michael Center

Frequently Asked Questions In encountering those who may be possessed or other kinds of demonic attacks, how might I protect myself in this area as a lay person? The best spiritual protection is living a holy, faith-filled sacramental life. We encourage regular confession, and at least weekly Mass and reception of the Eucharist. This should be combined with daily prayer and regular use of sacramentals such as crucifixes in rooms, holy water, and holy pictures. If people believe they might be the subject of direct demonic influence, then daily deliverance prayers can be helpful. We encourage people to pray the daily “Auxilium Christianorum” prayers found on the APP by that name. There are also many deliverance prayers on our APP: "Catholic Exorcism" as well. In particular, the “Prayer against Retaliation” can be helpful when dealing with someone who may be possessed and also, the “Binding Prayers.” Both of these are found in the section: “Deliverance Prayers for the Laity." Fr. Chadd Ripperger’s book, "Deliverance Prayers: For Use by the Laity” is recommended. It has a number of good prayers of protection. Our website has a link to purchase the book here. in_encountering I am thinking about practicing Reiki. Is that okay? Here is a document from the Pontifical Council for Culture and Interreligious Dialogue. It covers the New Age Movement, the philosophy behind it and lists some of the practices that are included in it. It might be helpful to read it. It is important to understand the theological and spiritual presupposition embedded in these therapies and how they compare with the Church’s approach. When it comes to issues of physical health the Church recognizes the value and role of medical science. The question with many of the alternative medicines is what are the principles that inform them. Are they based on observable and verifiable data or some belief system that requires a type a faith? Many of the energy therapies come from the Hindu and Buddhist religions and are based on the tenants and practices of their faith. These are decidedly different from the Catholic faith. Reiki is one example of this energy therapy and it has been condemned by the USCCB. Here is a link to the USCCB’s document on Reiki. These are some important quotes from the document: 6. Nevertheless, there are some Reiki practitioners, primarily nurses, who attempt to approach Reiki simply as a natural means of healing. Viewed as natural means of healing, however, Reiki becomes subject to the standards of natural science. It is true that there may be means of natural healing that have not yet been understood or recognized by science. The basic criteria for judging whether or not one should entrust oneself to any particular natural means of healing, however, remain those of science. 7. Judged according to these standards, Reiki lacks scientific credibility. It has not been accepted by the scientific and medical communities as an effective therapy. Reputable scientific studies attesting to the efficacy of Reiki are lacking, as is a plausible scientific explanation as to how it could possibly be efficacious. The explanation of the efficacy of Reiki depends entirely on a particular view of the world as permeated by this "universal life energy" (Reiki) that is subject to manipulation by human thought and will. Reiki practitioners claim that their training allows one to channel the "universal life energy" that is present in all things. This "universal life energy," however, is unknown to natural science. As the presence of such energy has not been observed by means of natural science, the justification for these therapies necessarily must come from something other than science. 8. Some people have attempted to identify Reiki with the divine healing known to Christians. They are mistaken. The radical difference can be immediately seen in the fact that for the Reiki practitioner the healing power is at human disposal. Some teachers want to avoid this implication and argue that it is not the Reiki practitioner personally who effects the healing, but the Reiki energy directed by the divine consciousness. Nevertheless, the fact remains that for Christians the access to divine healing is by prayer to Christ as Lord and Savior, while the essence of Reiki is not a prayer but a technique that is passed down from the "Reiki Master" to the pupil, a technique that once mastered will reliably produce the anticipated results. Some practitioners attempt to Christianize Reiki by adding a prayer to Christ, but this does not affect the essential nature of Reiki. For these reasons, Reiki and other similar therapeutic techniques cannot be identified with what Christians call healing by divine grace. 10. Reiki therapy finds no support either in the findings of natural science or in Christian belief. For a Catholic to believe in Reiki therapy presents insoluble problems. In terms of caring for one's physical health or the physical health of others, to employ a technique that has no scientific support (or even plausibility) is generally not prudent. 11. In terms of caring for one's spiritual health, there are important dangers. To use Reiki one would have to accept at least in an implicit way central elements of the worldview that undergirds Reiki theory, elements that belong neither to Christian faith nor to natural science. Without justification either from Christian faith or natural science, however, a Catholic who puts his or her trust in Reiki would be operating in the realm of superstition, the no-man's-land that is neither faith nor science. Superstition corrupts one's worship of God by turning one's religious feeling and practice in a false direction. While sometimes people fall into superstition through ignorance, it is the responsibility of all who teach in the name of the Church to eliminate such ignorance as much as possible. The principles used by the Bishops with regards to Reiki are the same principles that should be used to evaluate all such alternative and energetic therapies. These would be natural science and your Christian beliefs. Without the backing of science or the Christian Faith, engaging in energy therapies from the Hindu/Buddhist religions can open one up to the spiritual realities that animate these religious belief systems. The same applies to therapies that, although not based in a particular pagan religion, still use forms of divination to diagnose and/or prescribe treatments for illnesses. Opening one’s self to spiritual forces that are not from the one, true God can be spiritually dangerous. Thus, Christians are advised to stay away from such approaches. Reiki What are your thoughts on Unbound by Neal Lozano? I have encountered lay prayer ministers who believe that they, as lay Christians, have been given the authority to bind and to loose and thus see their work as a deliverance ministry in which they speak of casting out demons and evil spirits and speak of liberating souls from the oppression of malign spirits. There are many potential benefits and abundant graces that result from such healing prayers. One place to tread lightly is in regards to Key # 4/Authority and the "word of command". Many Catholic exorcists agree that pastoral prudence is called for when suggesting that lay Christians directly command demons to be cast out. While theologically it is true that every baptized believer has authority to serve in Jesus’ name, laity with the intent to directly command demons to be cast out can be inviting trouble. It is our belief that leading persons themselves to cast demons out is both prudent and efficacious. Moreover, exorcists often make the distinction between deprecatory prayers and imprecatory prayers. The laity are encouraged to use deprecatory prayers, ie., ask God to cast out the demons, rather than imprecatory prayers which command the demons directly. We recommend that the laity not engage or address demons directly, but rather encourage souls, in courage and clarity, to unearth and name their woundedness aloud, beseeching the Lord to take away their misery and to be freed. Another important point to make is that once the woundedness has been named and spirits have been cast to the foot of the cross, an infilling of the power of the Holy Spirit, mercy of Christ, and Fathers love is essential. When our focus rests disproportionately on the workings of the enemy of our souls, rather than on claiming the promise and freedom of Christ Jesus, we again have a disordered and potentially risky perspective at play. When we prayerfully call upon and invite in the light of Our Triune God, to push back all darkness and take up residence, we are being obedient to the teaching of Jesus. We not only empty, sweep clean, and put in order, but invite our Lord to dwell within, filling us with hope, peace, joy & faith to name a few, lest “it goes and brings back with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they move in and dwell there; and the last condition of that person is worse than the first.” MT 12:45. Unbound Wiccan Moving A Wiccan just moved in a few houses over. I am wondering if we should remove our visible signs of faith, namely St Francis statue and Divine mercy image in front window, so as to not draw attention and provoke curses etc.? Absolutely not! that would be a “win” for Satan... rather, trust that God and the Blessed Virgin will protect you. If you are concerned, pray the “Auxilium Christianorum” prayers daily which can be found in the APP under that name or online. Q: I have been seeing a Naturopath. He has used mostly whole foods and supplements in his remedies. He treated me effectively. This brings me to the present problem, I just finished taking another round of herbs this week when I began to look closely at the bottle. I hadn't noticed before that it had a website attached. The company is called "Monastery of Herbs", and I was very disturbed to read about it online. www.monasteryofherbs.com. T he website is new-agey and they pray over the pills. There is no doubt that they are effective. Does this mean I have subjected my self and my family to the demonic? What do you think? A: The website you supplied for examination does indeed contain many troublesome things. They claim that “blessings and prayers are done over the herbal blends continuously and special "vibrational imprinting" is spiritually performed daily.” An expert on the site says, “We can get your energy shifted, so you can better adjust…” Further they claim access to a kind of psychic ability through what they call “Neuro Bodyscan.” This, they claim is “a technique that uses intuitive skills of a “body systems intuitive, to see into the body from a distance, like Edgar Casey. The use of tarot cards or something similar are also implied when they say, “When you call me…we can draw a card, for inspiration.” Hence we see references to New Age notions such as energy flow through bodies, occult forms of divination as manifest in the use of “cards,” and paranormal concepts such as “scanning” a body by intuition and deep meditation. These sorts of practices are a dangerous opening to dark spirits and provide easier access for demons. It is one thing to pray over herbs and ask God a blessing, it is another, non-Christian notion, to pray over them in order to convey a dubious and potentially dark energy of “vibrational imprinting.” Such notions are not revealed to us by God who calls us to trust in him and not resort to strange notions of contrived or hidden energies or forces. Drawing cards and other forms of divination are a violation of the First Commandment. Some years ago the Vatican published a paper, JESUS CHRIST: THE BEARER OF THE WATER OF LIFE , analyzing New Age movements and issued warnings to the faithful. Here are some excerpts: When one examines many New Age traditions, it soon becomes clear that there is little in the New Age that is new. … [Its ideas] date back to Gnostic groups which grew up in the early days of Christianity, and gained momentum at the time of the Reformation in Europe….It has involved a progressive rejection of a personal God…alongside a focus on hidden spiritual powers or forces in nature. … An adequate Christian discernment of New Age thought and practice cannot fail to recognize that, it represents something of a collection of positions that the Church has identified as heterodox….We cannot delude ourselves that this will lead toward a renewal of religion. … [It] can be described as “a modern revival of pagan religions with a mixture of influences from both eastern religions and also from modern psychology, philosophy, science, and the counterculture. To be clear, you are right to be concerned. One must strive to stay away from such sources as you cite here. Exorcists and many others in deliverance ministry can tell volumes of how such appeals to invisible energies, clairvoyance, divination and so forth lead inevitably and often inexorably to the dark side. If one is not calling on the Holy Spirit, it is evil spirits that they summon. And evil spirits have a nasty way of answering and setting up shop in the lives of those who summon them. Even if someone would like to assert that some of these practices could be “OK,” it is better to err on the side of great caution and simply stay away from dubious things. Stay, rather, with the good, clear water of the Gospel. But what of the fact that these herbals did in fact help you? It is good to remember two things. First, the help may have been in no way associated with the “blessings” said over them. So just stick to the herbals without all the “vibrational energies” etc that are invoked. Second, it is a given fact that demons can perform signs and wonders to deceive (cf, Ex 7:22; 8:7; Mat 12:27, inter al) and draw us into their tether. Surely it is advisable to find herbal remedies that are free from all this occult background. Rev. Msgr Charles Pope Q: Does Mother Superior have authority over demons for her daughter nuns? A: I n our experience the Superior has authority over the subject and can command things under obedience that the subject and the demons have to obey. We’ve had one superior command the sister not to manifest in choir etc and it stopped it from happening for a period of time. We also believe that this authority extends to ordering the demons directly so we believe they can use imprecatory prayers.

  • THE ST. MICHAEL CENTER ADVISORY BOARD | St. Michael Center

About the St. Michael Center Advisory Board The Advisory Board The St. Michael Center Advisory Board is composed of those saints in heaven whose intercession has been particularly powerful in our ministry. These saints have continually assisted the St. Michael Center in casting Satan out and helping those afflicted souls along their healing journey to Christ. Thus we seek to honor them for all of the help they give us from Heaven and we seek their continuing aid and guidance. Our Lady of Sorrows Our Lady of Sorrows is a particular devotion to the Blessed Mother that focuses on her sufferings. The Seven Sorrows of Mary are: 1) The Prophecy of Simeon 2) The Flight into Egypt 3) The Loss of Our Lord in the Temple 4) Jesus Meets Mary on the Way to Calvary 5) The Crucifixion 6) Jesus's Body is Taken Down from the Cross 7) The Burial of Jesus This devotion of Mary is powerful in not only casting our demons but also healing of wounds. There is a Rosary to Our Lady of Sorrows that Our Lady herself asked us to pray at the apparition of Our Lady of Kibeho. This feast is celebrated on September 15th. Read More St. Michael the Archangel St. Michael, who is the St. Michael Center's patron and namesake, led the Heavenly forces against Satan and his fallen angels. He continues to wage this war for our souls today. Tradition also holds that he is to escort those who are going to Heaven at their moment of death. He is a champion and protector of all Christians from dangers and perils. He has appeared in a cave in Gargano four times. A basilica was built on the site of these apparitions in his honor. It was through his intercessions that many were spared of a plague spreading rapidly at that time in Europe. Rocks from Gargano are considered to be his relics. There are also many legends of him protecting Christians from both physical and spiritual dangers. His role as general and commander of the forces of Jesus against Satan and all evil works is crucial to the exorcism ministry. We understand that St. Michael is spiritually present at all exorcisms. His feast day is September 29th. Read More St. Gemma Galgani Pictured here is St. Gemma Galgani, also known as the 'The Flower of Lucca'. Born on March 12, 1878 in Lucca, Italy, she was one of 8 children. Gemma was constantly plagued with health issues of one kind or another, all of which she offered up to Jesus. From an early age she had a deep love of prayer. When Gemma was 19 years old her father died and it fell to her to care for her brothers and sisters. Eventually her siblings grew up and were able to share the responsibilities. Gemma was proposed to twice but refused both times as she wanted only to be with Jesus. She desired to be a nun but her poor health prevented this. She fell ill at one time with meningitis and through the intercession of St. Gabriel Possenti, was healed. However, the most notable feature of her life was her mysticism. She had apparitions of St. Gabriel Possenti, she could speak directly to Jesus, she went into many ecstasies, and she was also given the grace of the stigmata. Physicians would try and surprise her to study her stigmata, but when they would come, it would go away. Under the obedience of her confessor she was compelled to write an autobiography. The autobiography was at one point stolen by Satan who tried to burn it. Pictures exist to this day of this autobiography with scorch marks on it. Her clear love of Jesus made her especially hated by Satan who would regularly try to attack her. She was known to spit at, mock, and ignore Satan even during his strongest attacks (which she was later strictly forbidden from doing by her spiritual director). St. Gemma's forceful rejection of Satan and offerings of her suffering for the conversion of sinners makes her intercession quite powerful in the exorcism ministry. She is one of our strongest advocates. She died of tuberculosis at the age of 25 on April 11, 1903. Her feast day is April 11th. Read More St. Padre Pio Francesco Forgione was born on May 25, 1887 in Pietrelcina Italy. He would later take the name Pio in honor of Pope Pius I. As a child he was very holy. He was known to be able to see guardian angels as well as speak to Mary and Jesus. His remarkable holiness was also met with remarkable suffering. Francesco was often ill and his family was poor. He was not able to study much between his bad health and needing to help his family. Eventually his family sacrificed a lot to allow him to go into the Capuchin Friars. Padre Pio is still to this day well known for his incredible gift of healing and the stigmata among many other miracles such as bilocation, reading of hearts, and casting out devils. Satan would harass Padre Pio often, coming into his cell at night both tempting and beating him. Through all of these attacks Padre Pio remained faithful and at peace following Christ. His feast is September 23. Read More St. Dominic St. Dominic was born in Caleruega Spain in 1170. He was born to a noble family. His mother, Bl. Joan of Aza, was also a very holy woman. St. Dominic is remembered for many things, but among them perhaps one of the most important is that he was given the Rosary in 1214 by the Blessed Mother herself. This devotion was not seen much before then. He founded the Order of Preachers as well (Dominicans). He is also well known to have fought the Albigensian heresy which taught that all matter is evil. He was also a man of intense discipline and mortifications, not even owning a bed. A famous painting by Pietro della Vecchia entitled St. Dominic and the Monkey encapsulates one story about St. Dominic. Satan often harassed St. Dominic. One night Satan appeared as a monkey in Dominic's library attempting to distract him from study by throwing books off shelves and trying to spill ink on Dominic's writing. Eventually Dominic had enough and commanded Satan to hold to the candle for him while he wrote. Through the power of Jesus, Satan was compelled to obey. St. Dominic often overcame the devil which is why his intercession is powerful in casting evil out. His feast is August 8. Read More St. Mary of Jesus Crucified Mariam Baouardy was born January 5th, 1846 in Ibillin which is a village near Nazareth in the Holy land. She also had a younger brother, Paul. When Mariam was 3 both her parents died of an infectious disease and she was separated from her bother, who she would never see again. She was sent to live with her wealthy uncle. She eventually moved to Alexandria where her uncle arranged a marriage which she refused. Enraged, her uncle made her a serving girl and treated her very poorly. In an attempt to escape, Mariam enlisted the help of a Muslim boy to help her get to her brother in Galilee. The Muslim boy thought he could convert Mariam but when his intentions were made clear she refused. This nearly cost Mariam her life as the boy slashed her throat and dumped her body into a ditch. According to Mariam, who lived the rest of her life with a raspy voice and a large scar, she was saved by a woman in a blue habit who later was identified as the Blessed Virgin. She joined the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Apparition when she was 18 in Marseilles. However, she was eventually refused from the order due to her incredible mysticism. She would often go into ecstasies and had regular conversations with Jesus. Later in life she would receive the stigmata. In June 1867 she entered the Carmelites in Pau where she took the religious name Mary of Jesus Crucified. She was also known to have a brilliant devotion to Our Lady and the Holy Spirit. She died in Bethlehem while founding another convent there. St. Mary of Jesus Crucified was possessed by the devil at one point as a suffering for the expiation of sins. This makes her a fierce opponent to evil and her intercession very powerful in casting out Satan. Her feast is August 26th. Read More St. Charbel Makhlouf Youssef Antoun Makhlouf was born in the year 1828 in Bekaa Kafra which is in Northern Lebanon. He was raised in the faith and had two uncles that were both hermits. As a child he had an intense love of prayer. In 1851 he entered Our Lady of Maifouk monastery and then went to the monastery of St. Maron joining the Maronite order and taking the name Charbel. After his studies he became a hermit and spent the next 23 years in prayer. When he died on Christmas Eve 1898, lights were seen around his grave and his body secreted sweat and blood. It is through his intercession that many healings have taken place. These miracles have brought many back to the faith. His feast is July 24th. Read More St. Mary Magdalene Mary Magdalene plays an incredibly important role in the life of every Christian, even today. She is sometimes referred to as the 'Apostle to the Apostles' because she was the person chosen by God to announce to the apostles the mystery of the Resurrection of Jesus. All that is substantially known of her life is known from scripture. It is likely that she was a terrible sinner before meeting Christ. Upon meeting Christ, she was liberated from her possession by 7 demons. This changed her life forever and she began to follow Christ. Her feast is July 22. Read More St. John Marie Vianney Born in Dardilly, France May 8, 1786, he spent his childhood under the shadow of the French Revolution. The Revolution caused priests to minister in secret which was awe inspiring to the young boy. He was catechized in secret by two nuns and received communion and confirmation in secrecy. In 1802, the Church began rebuilding in France. John Vianney was studying for the priesthood in 1809 when he was drafted into Napoleon's army. He fell sick two days after joining and was taken to a town, instead of a hospital, where deserters would go called Les Noes. Here he remained for a little over a year and started a school for the children there. After his ordination he was made assistant to a bishop and then sent to Ars where he founded a home for girls. It was also here that he tirelessly pursued his flock preaching challenging homilies and hearing thousands of confessions. It was also widespread that he had the gift of reading souls. He tried on several occasions to leave to become a monk but was always prevented, once by his own parishioners. Satan would come and attack John Vianney often because he was tearing souls from the clutches of evil. He was so frequently attacked that he had a nickname for Satan which was "the grappin". It is reported he said one time sarcastically, "Oh the grappin and myself? We are alomst chums" (Aleteia ). He sustained many brutal attacks from Satan, especially when he was going to hear the confession of a very horrible sinner. His feast is August 9th. Read More Pope St. John Paul II Karol Wojtyla was born on May 18th 1920 outside Warsaw in a small town called Wadowice. He had a brother as well. In 1941 when his father died he was left without family as his brother and mother had both passed previously. To make matters worse, he was a Catholic during the Nazi occupation of Poland. He was a man well acquainted with the Cross. Trusting in God he became aware of his call to the priesthood and joined a secret seminary where he began his studies. Being a holy priest, he quickly rose in the ranks of the Church from bishop to Cardinal. Of great significance were his contributions to the Second Vatican Council especially on the document Gaudium et Spes . He was later elected Pope on October 16, 1978. He was a leader in the fight against communism. All the while he maintained his avid outdoorsmanship with a particular love of skiing. According to Fr. Gabriel Amorth, a deceased exorcist of Rome, Pope John Paul II was known to have been an exorcist while he was a priest. It is also known that during his papacy he liberated a woman from demonic possession according to Cardinal Jacques-Paul Martin's posthumous memoirs. (Aleteia) His feast is October 22nd. Read More

  • Umbrellino Prayer

< Back Umbrellino Prayer Lord Jesus Christ, Sovereign King enthroned in Heaven, in your love and mercy establish a perimeter of protection with Your Most Precious Blood around myself (and N.), our families, loved ones, those we cherish, and our possessions, blocking the empowerment of Satan or any curses or any other demonic enthronement, abominations in Your sight. I beseech You to create around me (and N.) a sanctuary of your mercy where Satan and any other evil spirit or human agency cannot empower or aid in any way, the demons present here, rendering them deaf, dumb and blind, unable to communicate or receive any empowerment from any other evil spirit by isolating them from each other; that You would strip them of all weapons, armor, power, illusions and authority; that You would bind, rebuke and disable them from communicating or interacting with each other in any way. We ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, enthroned as Queen of Heaven and earth, Mother of the Church, the Sorrowful Mother, Virgin Most Powerful and St. Michael the Archangel, to send down the legions of angels under their command to block, bind and withhold any demons, whether it is Satan or any of his minions, from supporting, aiding or communicating with the demons present in and around (N.), destroying any ability of these to fortify their stronghold, lengthen their stay or strengthen their ability to attack or hide. We ask this in Your Most Holy Name, the Name before which every knee shall bow, in heaven, on the earth and under the earth. Amen. (Cabading, edited online Download) Previous Next

< Back Invoking the Aid of Saint Michael the Archangel Prayer St. Michael the Archangel, illustrious leader of the heavenly army, defend us in the battle against principalities and powers, against the rulers of the world of darkness and the spirit of wickedness in high places. Come to the rescue of mankind, whom God has made in His own image and likeness, and purchased from Satan’s tyranny at so great a price. Holy Church venerates you as her patron and guardian. The Lord has entrusted to you the task of leading souls of the redeemed to heavenly blessedness. Entreat the Lord of peace to cast Satan down under our feet, so as to keep him from further holding mankind captive and doing harm to the Church. Carry our prayers up to God’s throne, that the mercy of the Lord may quickly come and lay hold of the beast, the serpent of old, Satan and his demons, casting him in chains into the abyss, so that he can no longer seduce the nations. Let this blood penetrate the very marrow of our bones to cleanse us from any entanglement from whatever evil spirits we have come in contact with during the course of our intercession. Anoint us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit and refresh our body, soul, and spirit, and may the sign of Your holy cross drive away all evil spirits from us. In the Name of the Father + and the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. or Lord Jesus, thank You for sharing with us Your wonderful ministry of healing and deliverance. Thank You for the healing we have seen and experienced today. But we realize that the sickness and evil we encountered are more than our humanities can bear. So cleanse us of any sadness, negativity, or despair that we may have picked up during the course of this ministry. If our ministry has tempted us to anger, impatience, or lust, cleanse us of those temptations and replace them with love, joy and peace. If any evil spirits have attached themselves to us or oppress us in any way, I command You, spirits of earth, air, fire, or water, of the netherworld or of nature, and all spirits not of the Holy Spirit to depart now and go straight to Jesus Christ, for Him to deal with as He wills. Come, Holy Spirit, renew us, fill us anew with Your power, love and joy. Strengthen us where we have felt weak and clothe us with Your light. Fill us with life. And Lord Jesus, please send your holy angels to minister to us and our families and to guard and protect us from all sickness, harm, and accidents and guard us on a safe trip home, and grant us a peaceful night’s rest. We praise You now and forever, + Father, Son, and Holy Spirit! Amen. (Cabading, pp. 212-213) Back to Top Deliverance Prayer Deliverance Prayer Lord, have Mercy. God, Our Lord, King of Ages, All powerful and Almighty, Thou Who hast made everything and who hast transformed everything simply by Thy Will. Thou Who in Babylon changed into dew the flames of the “seven-times hotter” furnace and protected and saved the three holy children. Thou are the doctor and the physician of our souls. Thou are the salvation of those who turn to Thee. We beseech Thee to make powerless, banish, and drive out every diabolic power, presence, and machination; every evil influence, malefice, or evil eye and all evil actions aimed against Your servant… where there is envy and malice, give us an abundance of goodness, endurance, victory and charity. O Lord, Thou who loves man, we beg Thee to reach out Thy powerful hands and Thy most high and mighty arms and come to our aid. Help us, who are made in your image; send the Angel of Peace over us, to protect us body and soul. May he keep at bay and vanquish every evil power, every poison or malice invoked against us by corrupt and envious people. Then, under the protection of Thy authority may we sing in gratitude, “The Lord is my salvation; whom should I fear? I will not fear evil because Thou art with me, my God, my strength, my powerful Lord, Lord of Peace, Father of all Ages. Back to Top Holy Name of Jesu Litany of the Holy Name of Jesus “This litany of the Most Holy Name of Jesus brings to mind the words of St. Paul: “whatever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus" (Col 3:17). This tribute of supplication to our Lord is thought to have been composed by two 15th century champions of devotion to the Holy Name of Jesus, St. Bernardine of Siena and his student St. John of Capistrano. It gives us a good opportunity to meditate on both our Lord’s attributes and His life, while asking Him for heavenly guidance and assistance. The litany of the Most Holy Name of Jesus received the Church’s approval for private use by Pope Sixtus V in 1585, and public recitation by Pope Leo XIII in 1886. This litany is actually a synthesis of several other litanies dating back to the 17th century. Father Croiset composed a litany in 1691 from which 17 invocations were used by Venerable Anne Madeleine Remuzat when she composed her litany in 1718 at Marseille. She joined an additional 10 invocations to those of Father Croiset, for a total of 27 invocations. Six more invocations written by Sister Madeleine Joly of Dijon in 1686 were added by the Sacred Congregation for Rites when it was approved for public use in 1899. This makes a total of 33 invocations, one for each year of life of our Lord Jesus Christ. A partial indulgence is attached to this litany.” Lord, have mercy, R. Lord have mercy. PRAYER TO SAINT JOSEPH AFTER THE ROSARY/LITANY To you, O Blessed Joseph, we come in our trials, and having asked the help of your most holy spouse, we confidently ask your patronage also. The Pope ordered this prayer to be recited daily after Low Mass in all the churches throughout the Catholic world. However this practice was almost completely swept away in the 1960s by liturgical changes made in the wake of Vatican Council II. Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. He asked that it be added to the end of the Rosary, especially during the month of October, which is dedicated to the Rosary. The prayer is enriched with a partial indulgence (Handbook of Indulgences, conc. 19), and may be said after the customary Salve Regina and concluding prayer. It may also be used to conclude other Marian devotions.” To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our tribulation, and having implored the help of your most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your patronage also. Through that charity which bound you to the Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the paternal love with which you embraced the Child Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in our necessities. You fled through the night to avoid the devil's wicked designs; now with the power of God, smite the demons as they flee from you! Grant special protection, we pray, for children, fathers, families and the dying. By God's grace, no demon dares approach while you are near, so we beg of you, always be near to us! Amen. From Fr. Calloway's Consecration to St. Joseph book. Back to Top Chaplet of St. Michael The Chaplet of St. Michael “The Chaplet of St. Michael is a wonderful way to honor this great Archangel along with the other nine Choirs of Angels. What do we mean by Choirs? It seems that God has created various orders of Angels. Sacred Scripture distinguishes nine such groupings: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Powers, Virtues, Principalities, Archangels and Angels (Isa. 6:2; Gen. 3:24; Col. 1:16; Eph. 1:21; Rom. 8:38). There may be more groupings but these are the only ones that have been revealed to us. The Seraphim is believed to be the highest Choir, the most intimately united to God, while the Angelic Choir is the lowest. The history of this Chaplet goes back to a devout Servant of God, Antonia d'Astonac, who had a vision of St. Michael. He told Antonia to honor him by nine salutations to the nine Choirs of Angels. St. Michael promised that whoever would practice this devotion in his honor would have, when approaching Holy Communion, an escort of nine angels chosen from each of the nine Choirs. In addition, for those who would recite the Chaplet daily, he promised his continual assistance and that of all the holy angels during life, and after death deliverance from purgatory for themselves and their relations. [This devotion was approved by Pope Pius IX in 1851.]” O God, come to my assistance. R. O Lord, make haste to help me. Glory be to the Father, etc… (Say one Our Father and three Hail Marys after each of the following nine salutations in honor of the nine Choirs of Angels) By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Seraphim may the Lord make us worthy to burn with the fire of perfect charity. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Cherubim may the Lord grant us the grace to leave the ways of sin and run in the paths of Christian perfection. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Thrones may the Lord infuse into our hearts a true and sincere spirit of humility. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Dominations may the Lord give us grace to govern our senses and overcome any unruly passions. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Virtues may the Lord preserve us from evil and falling into temptation. Amen By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Powers may the Lord protect our souls against the snares and temptations of the devil. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Principalities may God fill our souls with a true spirit of obedience. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Archangels may the Lord give us perseverance in faith and in all good works in order that we may attain the glory of Heaven. Amen. By the intercession of St. Michael and the celestial Choir of Angels may the Lord grant us to be protected by them in this mortal life and conducted in the life to come to Heaven. Amen. Say one Our Father in honor of each of the following leading Angels: St. Michael, St. Gabriel, St. Raphael and our Guardian Angel. Concluding prayers: O glorious prince St. Michael, chief and commander of the heavenly hosts, guardian of souls, vanquisher of rebel spirits, servant in the house of the Divine King and our admirable conductor, you who shine with excellence and superhuman virtue deliver us from all evil, who turn to you with confidence and enable us by your gracious protection to serve God more and more faithfully every day. Pray for us, O glorious St. Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ, that we may be made worthy of His promises. Almighty and Everlasting God, Who, by a prodigy of goodness and a merciful desire for the salvation of all men, has appointed the most glorious Archangel St. Michael Prince of Your Church, make us worthy, we ask You, to be delivered from all our enemies, that none of them may harass us at the hour of death, but that we may be conducted by him into Your Presence. This we ask through the merits of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen. Pilgrims at the famous Marian Shrine in Loreto, Italy used it in the 16th century, and it was approved in 1587 by Pope Sixtus V. Although it is often prayed privately, especially after the rosary , the Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary has the distinction of being one of only six litanies approved for public recitation by the Holy See. Its invocations to our Blessed Mother include titles given to her by the early Church Fathers in the first few centuries of Christianity. The Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary has also been set to music (as the Litany of Loreto) by such celebrated composers as Palestrina, Charpentier, and Mozart. Lord, have mercy on us. R. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead.I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and life everlasting. R. Amen If you are praying this for oneself: In place of the Our Father’s (on the large beads): If Jesus makes me free, I will be free indeed. (Jn. 8:36). Back to Top Little Psalter of the Most Holy Face of Jesus Little Psalter The following is from a priest friend of St. Michael Center. He wrote, “Our Lord spoke to my heart, saying: Yes, I tell you, the Little Psalter is pleasing to My Heart and I shall bless those who seek My Face by praying the Little Psalter in My presence. Its value comes from the inspired Word of God that composes it. Each of the verses has a resonance in heaven, and in My Church on earth, and in Purgatory, where souls are consumed with longing to see My Face. Pray the Little Psalter for yourself, but pray it also for those priests who have asked you to intercede for them. Pray it for groups of priests, and pray it for [the priests of] entire nations. Pray it for bishops and for priests charged with the care of souls. Pray it for priests who languish in the darkness and cold of lives from which I am absent because they, in their weakness, and blindness, and ignorance, have closed to Me the door of their hearts. Pray it for the dying — how beautiful it is to die longing to behold My Face in light. And pray it for the souls in Purgatory that they may be so purified as to gaze upon My Face in glory. Use the Little Psalter in interceding for souls held in bondage to evil, and use it for the healing of the sick in mind and body, for the radiance of My Eucharistic Face penetrates souls and bodies exposed to its light, bringing healing and repairing what has been damaged, disfigured, or tainted by evil and by the effects of sin. In doing this, you will discover that the Little Psalter is a prayer of adoration and reparation, and it is for this that I have given it to you and ask you to make it known… I give you this prayer for My own glory, so outraged and spurned by souls grown cold in sin, but I also give it to you for your own consolation after so much bitter suffering, and for the consolation of a great number of souls with whom I share My Passion, those who make up for what is lacking in My sufferings, in their own flesh, for the sake of My Body, the Church.” The Little Psalter of the Most Holy Face of Jesus Opening verse, thrice: + Hear, O Lord Jesus, the prayers of Thy servant. * Cause Thy Face to shine upon Thy sanctuary. (Dan 9:17) On the Pater beads: My soul is athirst for God, the living God; * when shall I come and appear before the Face of God? (Ps 41:3) On the Ave beads: Thy Face, Lord Jesus, will I seek, * turn not away thy face from me. (Ps 26:8-9) To conclude each decade: Behold, O God our protector: * and look upon the Face of Thy Christ. (Ps 83:10) At the end of five decades, thrice: Let God arise, and let His enemies be scattered: * and let them that hate Him flee from before His Face.( Ps 67:2) In conclusion: + The light of Thy Face, Lord Jesus, is signed upon us; * Thou hast given gladness in my heart. (Ps 4:7) The Little Psalter of the Holy Face consists of three parts of 50 invocations divided into decades. As with the Rosary of the Blessed Virgin, the three parts of the Little Psalter of the Holy Face need not be said all at once. I have physical health needs, emotional needs, spiritual needs, and interpersonal needs. Many of my problems have been caused by own failures, neglects, and sinfulness for which I humbly beg Your forgiveness. But I also ask You to forgive the sins of my ancestors whose failures have left their effects on me in the form of unwanted tendencies, behavior patterns, and defects in body, mind and spirit. Heal me, Lord of all these disorders. With Your help I sincerely forgive everyone, especially living or dead members of my family tree who have directly offended me or my loved ones in any way …or those whose sins have resulted in our present sufferings and disorders. In the Name of Your divine Son Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit, I ask You, Father, to deliver me and my entire family tree from the influence of the evil one. Free all living and dead members of my family tree, including those in adoptive relationships and those in extended family relationships, from every contaminating form of bondage. By Your loving concern for us, heavenly Father, and by the shed Blood of Your Precious Son, Jesus, I beg You to extend Your blessings to me and to all my living and deceased relatives. Heal every negative effect transmitted through all past generations, and prevent such negative effects in future generations of my family tree. I symbolically place the Cross of Jesus over the head of each person in my family tree and between every generation. I ask You to let the cleansing Blood of Jesus purify the bloodlines in my family lineage. Set Your protective angels to encamp around us, and permit Archangel Raphael, the patron of healing, to administer Your divine healing power to all of us, even in the area of genetic disability. Give special power to our family members’ guardian angels to heal, protect, guide and encourage each of us in all our needs. Let Your healing power be released at this very moment and let it continue as long as Your sovereignty permits. In our family tree, Lord, replace all bondage with a holy bonding in family love. And let there be an ever-deeper bonding with You, Lord, by the Holy Spirit to Your Son, Jesus. Let the family of the Holy Trinity pervade our family with its tender, warm, loving presence, so that our family may recognize and manifest that love in all our relationships. All of our unknown needs we include with this petition that we pray in Jesus’ Precious Name. AMEN. St. Joseph, Patron of Family Life, pray for us. Rev. John H. Hampsch, C.M. Back to Top

  • Breaking the Freemasonic Curse - Short Form

< Back Breaking the Freemasonic Curse - Short Form God the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, I come to Thee in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son. I come as a sinner seeking forgiveness and cleansing from all sins committed against Thee, and others made in Thy image. I honor my earthly father and mother and all of my ancestors of flesh and blood, and of the spirit by adoption and godparents, but I utterly turn away from and renounce all their sins. I forgive all my ancestors for the effects of their sins on me and my children. I confess and renounce all of my own sins. I renounce and rebuke Satan and every spiritual power of his affecting me and my family. I renounce and forsake all involvement in Freemasonry or any other lodge or craft by my ancestors and myself. In the name of Jesus Christ and by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, I renounce and cut off Witchcraft, the principal spirit behind Freemasonry, and I renounce and cut off Baphomet, the Spirit of Antichrist and the spirits of Death, and Deception. I renounce the insecurity, the love of position and power, the love of money, avarice or greed, and the pride which would have led my ancestors into Masonry. I renounce all the fears which held them in Masonry, especially the fears of death, fears of men, and fears of trusting, in the name of Jesus Christ and by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I renounce every position held in the lodge by any of my ancestors or myself, including "Master," "Worshipful Master," or any other. I renounce the calling of any man "Master," for Jesus Christ is my only Lord and master, and He forbids anyone else having that title. I renounce the entrapping of others into Masonry, and observing the helplessness of others during the rituals. I renounce the effects of Masonry passed on to me through any female ancestor who may or may not have felt distrusted and rejected by her husband as he entered and attended any lodge and refused to tell her of his secret activities. I also renounce all obligations, oaths and curses enacted by every female member of my family through any direct membership of all Women's Orders of Freemasonry, the Order of the Eastern Star, or any other Masonic or occultic organization. I renounce every evil spirit associated with Masonry and Witchcraft and all other sins, and I command in the name of Jesus Christ and by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary for Satan and every evil spirit to be bound and to leave me now, touching or harming no-one, and go to the place appointed for you by the Lord Jesus, never to return to me or my family. I call on the name of the Lord Jesus to be delivered of these spirits, in accordance with Our Lord’s many promises. I ask to be delivered of every spirit of sickness, infirmity, curse, affliction, addiction, disease or allergy associated with these sins I have confessed and renounced. I surrender to God the Holy Spirit and to no other spirit all the places in my life where these sins have been. Holy Spirit, I ask that Thou show me anything else which I need to do or to pray so that I and my family may be totally free from the consequences of the sins of Masonry, Witchcraft, Mormonism and all related Paganism and Occultism. God the Father, I ask humbly for the blood of Jesus Christ, Thy Son and my Savior, to cleanse me from all these sins I have confessed and renounced, to cleanse my spirit, my soul, my mind, my emotions and every part of my body which has been affected by these sins. I also ask that by the grace of Jesus Christ and by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary every cell in my body to come into divine order now, and to be healed and made whole as they were designed to, by my loving Creator, including restoring all chemical imbalances and neurological functions, controlling all cancerous cells, and reversing all degenerative diseases. I take to myself the whole armor of God in accordance with Ephesians Chapter Six, and rejoice in its protection as Jesus surrounds me and fills me with His Holy Spirit. I enthrone Thee, Lord Jesus, in my heart, for Thou are my Lord and my Savior, the source of eternal life. Thank you, God the Father, for Thy mercy, Thy forgiveness and Thy love, in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. (Ripperger, Minor Exorcisms, Appendix III, pp. 439-452). Previous Next

Diary of an American Exorcist - Msgr. Stephen Rossetti "Exorcist Msgr. Stephen Rossetti has a very active caseload of demonic possessions, and in each case two vivid lessons consistently emerge: demons possess or harass people in a myriad of ways (even when they do not enter a body), and they are defeated decisively by the power of Christ and His Church—and especially by invocations to the Blessed Mother. " - Sophia Institute Press How to Purchase An Exorcist Explains the Demonic - Fr. Gabriel Amorth "From Fr. Gabriel Amorth, the renowned exorcist in Rome, comes this powerful, eye-opening book on the deadly antics of Satan and his fallen angels, as well as spiritual remedies for each. These pages provide a basic orientation in the dark phenomenology, succinctly explaining Catholic doctrine on the fallen angels and the innumerable manifestations." -Amazon How to Purchase Diabolical Possession and the Ministry of Exorcism - Fr. Francesco Bamonte "Fr. Francesco Bamonte moves with agility in a world that knows no straight lines. With lots of modesty, he calls many colleagues to his workplace - some of the best that Italy has to offer. Of course, in light of the multifaceted wiles with which the Evil One works, one almost despairs in the search for a correct typology in which to insert each individual case." - Pope Leo XIII Institute How to Purchase The Virgin Mary and the Devil in Exorcisms - Fr. Francesco Bamonte "From the turbulent accounts of the exorcisms, the most pure figure of the Mother of God emerges in her greatness and magnificence. From these accounts arises a dreadful image of the Evil One. Satan appears repulsive, wretched, weak, and defeated despite the ferocity and ugliness of his anger and his blasphemous hate. This is a clear invitation to love the Blessed Virgin with all one's heart and through Mary her beloved son Jesus Christ." -Pope Leo XIII Institute How to Purchase The Rebellious Angels - Fr. Francesco Bamonte "The author, Fr. Francesco Bamonte, reminds us of the teaching of the Church. For what reason did the most beautiful and magnificent of all the angels freely and irreversibly oppose the immense love of God? Fr. Bamonte offers abundant questions and fascinating documentation in response to them." - Pope Leo XIII Institute How to Purchase The Devil's Role in the Spiritual Life - Fr. Cliff Ermatinger "Roaring Lion or Angel of Light, thus Saints Peter and Paul described the enemy of human nature - Satan. The great mystic and authority on all things spiritual, St. John of the Cross, is our guide and coach in this volume based on his writings. He reveals not only everything Satan is capable of doing to us, but also his limitations." - Amazon How to Purchase The Devil is Afraid of Me - Fr. Gabrial Amorth "Angelologist Father Marcello Stanzione tells the fascinating story of Father Amorth and his life as an exorcist. You’ll find out what his exorcism room looked like, and how various devils responded to his bold practice. Best of all, you’ll read Father Amorth’s own startling explanations of many truths about the Devil that our culture has forgotten and about the canny methods the Deceiver has adopted in recent years to corrupt believers and unbelievers alike." - Amazon How to Purchase The Nature and Psychology of Diabolic Influence - Fr. Chad Ripperger "The goal of this book is to provide that initial synthesis for the priest or professional working in the area of psychology and psychiatry. This book is not written in a popular style. It is more technical than most priests would be accustomed to. It is not meant to be a quick or easy read, but to provide a thoroughness and a proper level to a theological topic which often is only addressed on a superficial level." - Sensus Traditionis Press * Note that there are two versions of this book, one for priests and one for laity. In the end, it is all the trouble with magic." -Amazon How to Purchase Dominion: The Nature of Diabolic Warfare "The goal of this book is to provide that initial synthesis for the laity.
